I do not agree with the part that says
women's serotonin levels are cause of PMS. I think people latched onto the idea
that a lack of serotonin caused PMS when they realised Prozac helped
but it has been proven that Prozac's action is too quick in PMS
patients for it to work by the same mechanism by which depression is
treated (ie blocking serotonin reuptake). Serotonin may be part of
problem in some cases but i think the evidence points towards
allopregnanolone as being a far bigger player.
